Sep. 14—WILKES-BARRE — Sean Gerow, M.S., a strategic leader with more than 25 years of experience in financial management, nonprofit leadership and workforce development, has been named chief executive officer of Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania (FSA).

Gerow assumes his duties on Oct. 4.

Gerow joins FSA after serving more than two years as the executive director of Jewish Family Service of Orange County, New York, and offering consultant services to regional nonprofit agencies. His experience includes areas in long-term care, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health care, risk and liability, organizational leadership and quality improvement.

"I would like to thank the board of directors for the faith they have shown in me," said Gerow. "I am excited to join Family Service Association and work side-by-side with this dedicated team to provide outstanding quality service to the community."

At Jewish Family Service, he developed and implemented the agency's annual budget and marketing and fundraising plans, which included human resource management and grant writing, monitoring and reporting.

"Family Service Association has a rich history of providing health and human service programming that makes a measurable difference in the communities and people it serves," said Sam Rostock, chairperson of FSA's board of directors. "The board is extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Gerow to the Wyoming Valley, as he will build upon the agency's legacy of service to others in the 17 counties we serve."

Gerow holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from State University of New York, College at New Paltz, and a Master of Science in healthcare management from the New School for Social Research.

As FSA's CEO, Gerow will develop and administer all activities for the 13 health and human service programs offered in 17 counties of Northeastern and North-Central Pennsylvania. He will be responsible for the direction, leadership and coordination of all agency activities to ensure maximum benefit for clients and the greater community. Gerow will plan and coordinate the long-range strategic planning process and maintain fiscal and budgetary planning for the agency's programs and operations.

In August, Creative Benefits Inc. announced that former FSA President/CEO Gertrude C. McGowan, Esq. had been named a benefits consultant.

McGowan served as FSA's CEO since 2019.
