Child-care facility funding before Clallam commissioners

Governmental entities plan public meetings next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Several boards and commissions will not meet as it is the fifth week of the month.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement with the Olympic Peninsula YMCA for $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding to develop an 8,000-square-foot early learning facility with a capacity of 92 children aged 6 years or younger during its weekly work session on Monday.

They also will consider a new memorandum of understanding with the City of Port Angeles concerning a public safety facility as well as a request for $483,320 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for a pilot two-year respite care program for those without places to live.

The commissioners' work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

• A review of the monthly "How did we do" reports for the 2022 budget performance.

• An amended agreement with the Department of Health that adds an additional $1,243,000 to the county's 2022 budget.

• An agreement with the state Health Care Authority for $27,500 to provide health care to uninsured and underinsured individuals under 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

• A amended agreement with the Children's Home Society of Washington for an additional $15,000 in funding for the Parent to Parent program from Sept. 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

• A agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts for $40,327 to hire attorneys to represent parents in connection with minor guardianship cases from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

• A agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts for $96,164 to support the family and juvenile court improvement plan from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

• Review of a draft nuisance ordinance.

• An agreement with the Peninsula Housing Authority for $300,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds for its Mutual Self-Help Program.

• A resolution concerning the county's allocation election for the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Program.

• An agreement with the Clallam Conservation District to provide $250,000 in pass-through funding for cultural resource work related to the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project.

• A resolution adopting $934,153 in 2022 budget revisions and $146,556 in funding for 2022 debatable emergencies.

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.
