Youth Mental Health Summit planned for March 27

Daily Item - 3/14/2024

Mar. 14—LEWISBURG — The Youth Mental Health Summit will be March 27 at Campus Theater in Lewisburg.

The event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be hosted by Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit AWARE IMPACT youth mental health interns Ruth Krause from Lewisburg and Eli Seeshotlz from Bloomsburg. The Campus Theatre is located at 413 Market St., Lewisburg.

With mental health concerns on the rise, this summit aims to provide a platform for youth within the region to share their stories, share experiences, and gain resources, organizers said. All participants will leave the summit with resources and ideas they can take back to their district and communities.

In December 2022, the CSIU received a SAMHSA AWARE IMPACT grant to address mental health needs within the five-county region including school districts and community entities, through prevention and awareness activities and systems development. Over the past year, the grant team has identified action points, provided training to school districts and communities, created a platform for student voices to be shared, and created referral pathways to the Geisinger Bridge Clinic for school-aged youth.
