Sarasota County increased by 30 to 992 cases, with 94 deaths. Manatee County surged by 87 cases since yesterday, for a total of 1,977, with 126 deaths.

Both Sarasota and Manatee counties again set records Saturday for the number of new coronavirus cases confirmed in a single day, according to data reported Sunday by state officials. Saturday was the second straight day of record coronavirus cases for Sarasota, and the third straight day of record cases for Manatee.

This week, several municipalities in Florida began requiring masks, while the Florida Department of Health changed its advisory to encourage people not to gather in groups of more than 50, and to wear masks when social distancing of at least 6 feet isn't possible.
