Fraser Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at Mission retirement home over

Fraser Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Mission's Chartwell Carrington House Retirement Residence over.

A staff member tested positive on Oct. 13, and was forced to self-isolate at their home while a rapid response team was deployed to the facility by Fraser Health.

That same day, outbreaks were declared at PICS Assisted Living in Surrey, Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre in Delta and Thornebridge Gardens Retirement Residence in New Westminster.

"With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at these locations," said an Oct. 23 news release from Fraser Health.

New outbreaks were declared at Dr. Al Hogg Pavilion in White Rock, Laurel Place in Surrey, and the Fair Haven Homes Burnaby Lodge, after individual staff members also tested positive on Oct. 23.

Carrington House Retirement Residence retirement home is an assisted living and independent-living facility.

This was the second outbreak at a facility operated by Chartwells in Mission, the first being on April 1 at the Cedarbrooke Retirement Residence which infected three residents.
