Bay County Chamber of Commerce postpones annual dinner amid COVID-19 concerns

News Herald - 1/4/2021

Jan. 4—PANAMA CITY — The Bay County Chamber of Commerce has announced the rescheduling of the 108th Annual Bay County Chamber due to Covid 19 concerns.

According to Carol Roberts, chamber president, health and safety is priority number one. The chamber will continue to monitor stats and when Bay County's cases of COVID-19 decline, they will consider a reschedule date, most likely, in late spring or early summer, Roberts said. They will listen to the advice and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and medical professionals.

The annual dinner is considered the event of the year for the Bay County Chamber of Commerce, where the organization celebrates the previous year's accomplishments, holds the official passing of the gavel and recognizes many for their leadership.

"These folks will be recognized at a later date," Roberts said.

The chamber would like to salute the 2020 Chairman, Andrew Rowell of GAC Contractors, for his leadership through one of the most challenging years in the history of the organization. He has stood by the chamber, along with the executive committee, board of directors and the investors to make many tough decisions.

Roberts said they are ready to hit the ground running as the new board is in place, a business plan is finalized, 2021 legislative agenda is complete and committees are officially in place, under the leadership of Chris Moore of General Dynamics IT.
