Ontario County Public Health: 1 died of COVID-19 Tuesday; 102 new cases reported

HOPEWELL — One Ontario County resident died of COVID-19 on Jan. 5 and 102 new cases were reported, according to Ontario County Public Health.

Since the start of the pandemic, 3,744 residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic and 67 of them have died.

In all, 975 COVID-19 positive individuals are being isolated, monitored and are checked on daily by Public Health staff. This is in addition to 623 mandatory quarantines (contacts of positive cases) that are also being monitored and contacted daily (totaling 1,596 in the isolation and quarantine category).

The number of negative tests reported Tuesday was 296, and 45 positive residents were in the hospital, which showed no change from Monday.

With the 67 recoveries reported Tuesday, 2,709 people have recovered since the start of the crisis.
