Ontario County: 1 new COVID-19 death, 85 new cases Thursday

HOPEWELL — Ontario County Public Health is reporting one COVID-19 related death and 85 new cases — all of them community-acquired — as of Jan. 14.

There have been 73 deaths since the start of the pandemic, and 4,490 Ontario County residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Many of the new cases are related household contacts, community cases, several unknown exposures, and several that are still being investigated, health officials said.

There are 1,064 COVID-19 positive individuals who are being isolated. This is in addition to 684 mandatory quarantines (contacts of positive cases), totaling 1,748 in the isolation and quarantine category.

There have been 481 negative tests, and 58 patients are in the hospital. Eight hospital discharges have been noted.

In all, 3,358 recoveries have been reported since the start of the pandemic, with 126 new recoveries today.
