Nestlé recalls 760,000 pounds of pepperoni hot pockets

Approximately 762,615 pounds of not-ready-to-eat pepperoni hot pockets may be contaminated with pieces of glass and hard plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday.

The recalled product was produced between Nov. 13 through Nov. 16, 2020. The product, which has a shelf life of 14 months, is a 54-oz carton package containing “Nestlé Hot pockets brand sandwiches: premium pepperoni made with pork, chicken & beef pizza garlic buttery crust.”

The packages have a “best before Feb. 2020\u2033 date and lot codes: 0318544624, 0319544614, 0320544614, and 0321544614. The establishment number is “EST. 7721A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The product was shipped to retail locations nationwide, inspectors said.

Four consumers complained of “extraneous material” in the pepperoni hot pocket product. One minor oral injury associated with consumption of the product was reported, inspectors said.

Additional reports of injury or illness have not been reported. But, anyone concerned about a possible injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who bought the product are urged to not eat it, inspectors said. The product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
