Health officials last week rolled out a vaccination schedule for those 70 and older, starting this week.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System will open a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for residents of Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties at the Army National Guard and University Readiness Center at USC Upstate.

The hospital system is prepared to administer up to 10,000 doses a week at the clinic, based on allocations from the federal government.

At this time, those in Phase 1a, including those 70-plus years old, are eligible for the vaccine. An appointment is necessary. To schedule one, go to https://www.spartanburgregional.com/vaccine. Or call SRHS' COVID-19 customer service at 864-577-4091.

Meanwhile, Prisma Health will open a large-scale vaccination site in Greenville starting Monday.

Within the coming weeks, Prisma Health expects to be able to administer up to 10,000 vaccine doses per day.

The site is at 1 Kmart Plaza, inside the former Kmart building, near Greenville Memorial Hospital. It is open by appointment 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All community appointments from Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital will be transferred to this site.

This vaccine site will be by appointment only through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS).

In addition, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced last week that COVID-19 vaccines will be available by appointment only at participating Ingles pharmacies for healthcare personnel, long-term care facility residents and staff, and all patients 70 years or older.
