Coronavirus tracker: California reported 1,257 new cases and 44 new deaths, May 18

May 19—In California, 1,257 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Tuesday, May 18, according to end-of-day totals on public health websites, bringing the total number of cases so far to 3,744,213.

There were 44 new deaths reported statewide Tuesday for a total of 62,399 people who have died from COVID-19.

The state reported seven fewer hospitalizations from the previous day, decreasing the total hospitalizations of those infected with the coronavirus to 1,657.

According to the California Department of Public Health, 34.5 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state and 39% of residents are now fully vaccinated.
