COVID-19: Weld County case, testing and outbreak data for the week of Jan. 26

Jan. 27—Weld County officials reported 3,869 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, for a total of 75,452 cases since the pandemic began.

Due to a high case volume and a subsequent delay in case reporting, the actual number of cases is higher, according to the county.

The county's one-week average positive test rate is 30.02%, from 30.68% a week ago. In the Greeley area, that rate is 28.01%, the lowest in the county. Southwest Weld continues to have the highest rate in the county, 32.78%.

There are 267 COVID-19 patients at Weld regional hospitals, down from 310 a week ago. Of those patients, 69 are in county hospitals. There are 38 hospital beds and 14 ICU beds available in the region. Four of those hospital beds and four of those ICU beds are in the county.

About 27.5% of patients in regional hospitals are COVID-19 patients. Within the county, that rate is 41.9%.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 52 active outbreaks this week in Weld County:

1. North Range Behavioral Health Crisis Stabilization Services: Six staff cases. Outbreak reported Tuesday.

2. Vestas Blades America — Windsor: 24 staff cases. Outbreak reported Monday.

3. Meeker Elementary School — Greeley: Nine student cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Monday.

4. Scott Elementary School: Six student cases. Outbreak reported Jan. 21.

5. The Lodge at Greeley: One resident case and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Jan. 21.

6. Fairacres Manor, Inc.: 20 staff cases. Outbreak reported Jan. 20.

7. Bonell Good Samaritan Center: Four staff cases. Outbreak reported Jan. 20.

50. Grandview Elementary School: 31 student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2. No new cases since the week of Oct. 13.

51. Jefferson High School: Seven student cases and three staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 2. No new cases since the week of Oct. 13.

52. Greeley West High School: 28 student cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Sept. 21. No new cases since the week of Sept. 29.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 reported 39 students and no adults in quarantine as of Thursday. Jefferson Junior, University Schools and Brentwood Middle School have temporarily switched to remote learning through Monday.

There have been 576 Weld residents who died due to COVID-19, an increase of 17 in the past week, according to county data. The state reported 624 deaths among people with the virus in Weld, an increase of seven in the past week. The state reported seven new deaths due to COVID-19 in Weld, for a total of 520.

The state's one-week average positivity rate is 22.03%, according to state data. Johns Hopkins University reports the national positivity rate is 23.8%.

Weld County reported Jan. 21 that 18,068 residents have had their first doses of two-part COVID-19 vaccines, and 183,363 residents, 60.2% of the 5-and-up population, are fully vaccinated. Booster vaccines have been administered to 71,782 people in the county.

The state reports 4,320,871 people in the state have been immunized with one dose, and 3,880,835 people, 71.41% of the 5-and-up population, have been fully immunized. A total of 1,841,604 people have received additional doses.
