Watch out for these 8 cheeses at the grocery store. Hy-Vee warns of national recall

Kansas City Star - 10/3/2022

Hy-Vee has recalled eight different types of cheese from its stores across the country after receiving word from the manufacturers that they may be contaminated.

Old Europe Cheese, Inc. alerted the grocery store that products made for Saputo Cheese USA’s distribution may contain Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria can cause flu-like symptoms for infected people and can be especially harmful to people who are pregnant, over the age of 65 or with compromised immune systems.

Christina Gayman, the assistant vice president of communications with Hy-Vee, said it’s a national recall and that all stores were made aware of the contamination, not just Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee said in a statement that they haven’t had anyone report any sicknesses to them so far.

The following cheeses were recalled:

Cranberry Brie Torte (Brie Hostess)

Apricot Brie Torte (Brie Hostess)

Triple Crème Brie, Montamore Cheddar, and Aged Gouda Cheese Board

Sparkling Fruit and Cheese Board

La Bonne Vie Domestic Double Crème Brie (cut & wrapped)

La Bonne Vie French Double Crème Brie (cut & wrapped)

Bon Appetite Gift Basket

Deluxe Delights Gift Basket

The expiration dates for these cheeses range from Sept. 28 to Dec. 14. If you bought any of these, you should throw them away or return them for a full refund.
