Organizations are offering free COVID-19 vaccinations

The Daily Dispatch - 4/8/2021

Apr. 8—HENDERSON — Gang Free Inc., Seven Springs Farm and Vineyard and W.A.R.4Life are collaborating to host an event to offer vaccinations to provide protection against the COVID virus Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the vineyard in Warren County.

Melissa Elliott, founder of Gang Free, said individuals wishing to be vaccinated can simply "come on-site." No pre-registration is needed.

The vaccine will be the Johnson and Johnson "one dose" shot, so recipients will not need to return for a second shot to be fully immunized.

Seven Springs Farm is at 332 Axtell Ridgeway Road near Norlina. To reach the farm, turn south off of U.S. 1 between the International Paper installation and Norlina.

"We're partnering with W.A.R.4Life," Elliott said. "They're providing the bus."

W.A.R.4Life stands for "We Are Ready for Life." The organization's bus is a mobile vaccination unit. It is used as part of W.A.R.4Life's mission to help underserved communities improve living conditions and expand economic opportunities.

Gang Free is a nonprofit that directs its efforts to break the cycle of crime. It focuses particularly on at-risk youth and ex-offenders to help them become productive members of the community.

Seven Springs Farm and Vineyard is owned and operated by Preston Williams Jr. and his family. They purchased the farm in 1987 and opened it as a venue for special events in June 2020. Williams said there is plenty of parking for individuals coming for the vaccine.
