Telephonics is an interactive educational toy designed for use by children between 12 and 36 months of age with cognitive, vision, or learning disabilities. This telephone-style toy features a receiver and a large block-style keypad with one "key" for each letter of the alphabet; the letters are large and raised. When a letter is pressed, an animal corresponding to that letter pops up for conversation. Each animal speaks three phrases such as "Hi! This is Zoe the Zebra! My name starts with 'Z' that says 'zuh.' Thanks for calling!" The phone also features realistic phone sounds, flashing lights, a message and call waiting button, and automatic shutoff. From time to time, one of the animals will call and leave a message, asking the child to call back a specific letter, providing learning reinforcement. POWER: Uses three double-A batteries.
