Rolling Into Place - Rolling Right Along Series, model 1-08450-00, is a tactile book designed for use by children who are blind or have low vision. This interactive tactile storybook teaches and reinforces important hand skills and basic directional concepts as the child moves a Velcro ball through the book. The four-panel, accordion-style storybook encourages uninterrupted movement and keeps the ball "holding on" until it becomes the "nose" on a "great big face." The Velcro ball (the main character) tells a poetic story as it makes its journey from page to page with the child's assistance. Interchangeable Velcro face pieces, such as eyeglasses, ears, and eyebrows, provide added enjoyment and fun. The book comes with an author's letter that outlines a variety of educational experiences beyond the reading of the story, including enhancing visual/tactile memory, learning spatial concepts (up, down, across, over, etc.) and the parts of a face, and developing turn-taking skills. Besides the author's letter in braille and large print, the storybook comes with face accessories (two craft eyes, sunglasses, rimmed glasses, ears, eyebrows, mouth, bow tie/hair bow) and two Velcro-covered ping pong balls.
