DO IT YOURSELF ENTRY --- PURPOSE: To keep a wheelchair user's feet off the floor after footrests have been removed to avoid striking door jams and walls. Obtain about 42 inches of strong nylon strap (similar to that found on luggage) and wood dowelling that will fit into the hollow part of the wheelchair footrest fastener. Cut the dowel to fit each opening. Attach the strap with a screw to the top of each dowel. MATERIALS: 42 inches of nylon strapping, wood screws, and wooden dowel. TOOLS: Saw and drill.
