The Functional Electrical Stimulation Motorized Ergometer is designed for use by individuals with spinal cord injury or other neurological disabilities that prevent independent arm or leg cycling. The RT300-SLSA is used directly from a wheelchair, with no transfer required. When leg cycling, the user's feet are secured in the pedals with his/her legs supported by the leg guides. Surface electrodes placed on the skin over leg muscle groups are connected by a cable to the system's controller. When arm cycling, the user’s arms are secured to the arm crank using one of a variety of arm/hand adaptions. Surface electrodes are placed over arm and shoulder muscle groups. A computer with a color, touch-sensitive screen controls the stimulation patterns sent to the electrodes, producing a smooth arm or leg cycling motion. The unit comes with pre-set therapy settings to take the user through complete sessions. These settings can be tailored to suit individual needs by a clinician. A unilateral stimulation mode configures the RT300-SLSA to operate seamlessly when only one side of the body requires electrical stimulation. This feature includes a unilateral stimulation cable which simplifies electrode connection. The unit also offers Dynamic Motor Support, where the 200-watt leg motor and the 100-watt arm motor are both fully integrated with the electrical stimulation (maximum capacity 140mA stimulator). The system's software dynamically controls the motor and stimulation to maximize user performance and outcomes. The motor speed, resistance and torque (how hard the motor turns the crank) are all automatically responsive to user performance and phase of therapy--whether in the warm-up, active, or cool-down phase. The system's Internet connectivity enables the user and the therapist to monitor progress on the Web. Weekly progress emails are automatically sent to each rider. The system includes 10 complete sets of arm and leg electrodes and one in-home training session. SIZES: Model RT300-SLSA is an adult cycle and model RT300-SLSAP is a children's cycle for children ages four through 12. OPTIONS: Wireless pulse oximeter, arm and hand adaptions, and gloves. DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 21.3 x 18.1 x 18.1 inches. The unit requires approximately 2 x 3 square feet of floor space. WEIGHT: 120 pounds.
