Mason Jar Lid Snowman Christmas Ornament is a do it yourself craft for children with autism fine motor disabilities to exercise their fine motor skills while experiencing sensory integration.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials

  • Canning Lids (also called mason jar lids)
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • 6 small black buttons
  • Orange Craft Foam
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon or Baker’s Twine
  • Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue Sticks

Step Two: The child uses fine motor skills to paint the canning lid white. This will take more than one coat. Let dry.

Step Three: The child cuts a small triangle nose out of the orange craft foam.

Step Four: The child glues the buttons and nose on the canning lid to make a snowman face. Let dry.

Step Five: Hot glue a ribbon or some baker’s twine to the back, forming a loop that will hang on the Christmas tree branch.
