AbleData does not produce, distribute or sell any of the products listed on this website, but we provide you with information on how to contact manufacturers or distributors of these products. If you are interested in purchasing a product, you can find companies who sell it below.

The Simple-Laces are designed for individuals with arthritis or fine motor or mobility disabilities who have difficulty reaching or tying shoe laces. Simple-Laces uses the hook and loop concept and require only one finger or a hook clamp to fasten and unfasten, and will not come loose or unfastened accidentally. The laces are design to fit all types of shoes that have eyelets or loops using the straight/bar lacing system. The laces look like conventional shoelaces once fastened, thus providing a casual, sporty, or dressy.

To use: Insert the lace through holes or eyelets in the direction desired. Pull lace and fold toward Vutton to fasten. Press lace firmly on top of Vutton or lace (if using the Sports version). Cut off excess lace once you are satified with desire tightness. Lift to unfasten.

I invented Simple-Laces because my younger brother has difficulties with hand coordination, thus making it impossible for him to tie shoelaces.  He is not alone, as there are a lot of people with short or long term disabilities that hinder their ability to fasten current lacing systems.

Since the majority of shoes require conventional shoelaces, I wanted to creat a shoelace that would resemble a conventional shoelace but easier to fasten and unfasten without using knots, twists or hooks. An adjustable non-elastic lace that could be fasten with one finger or less.  One that would fit all types of shoes, look elegant, casual, sporty and have no excess lace.

As a  26 year Veteran, having served in the Marine Corps and the Navy, this task proved to be more difficult than I thought. I had to learn a lot about the shoelace world.  I also wanted the laces to be made in the USA.  After several years of trials and errors, and going around the globe, SIMPLE-LACES came to fruition, meeting all the above requirements. I want to thank all those people in the industry who were kind enough to spend their precious time educating me in the process on what it takes to create a simple shoelace.

My goal is to make the daily task of fastening shoes easy and fun for all people and to help those organizations that contribute so much in assisting individuals with special needs and disablities.

The best compliment I had so far was: "I didn't even notice the laces on your shoes."

Thanks

Sergio
