The Animal Cracker Oral Motor Exercise with Shape Identification is a do it yourself activity designed for parents of children with sensory processing disorder and special needs to do. This activity adds proprioceptive input and is a good way to work on oral speech skills.
Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Animal Crackers or Annie's Homegrown Bunny crackers (which are smaller).
  • Brightly Colored Straws.
  • 1 Square Container.
  • 1 Triangle Container.
  • 1 Circle Container.
  • Table.

Step Two: Have the child put the animal crackers inside each container on the table. (Turn the animal crackers upside down for an easier oral motor exercise.)

Step Three: Have the child pick an animal cracker up off the table with the straw, by sucking through the straw.

Step Four: Repeat Step Three.
