Letter Formation with Play Dough is a do it yourself activity designed for students with fine motor and learning disabilities to work on fine motor skills and literacy and to learn colors.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Different colors of Play Dough.
  • Play Dough Extruder.
  • Plastic Scissors.

Step Two: Using the Play Dough Extruder model how to spell the child’s name. Make each letter in a Different color of Play Dough. Use the Plastic Scissors to trim the extruded Play Dough to desired length or needed length to make the letters.

Step Three: Have the child name each letter and say what color it is.

Step Four: Have the child copy the therapist or teacher or parent, spelling their name with extruded and trimmed play dough.

Step Five: Have the child use their creativity to spell, extrude and create words on their own.
