ReadSpeaker TextAid is a literary support system designed to help individuals with learning disabilities read and write more independently. This web-based, personal reading assistant uses bimodal presentation and aspects of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to let individuals listen to an audio version of content while reading along with the highlighted text. This text can come from websites, emails, scanned documents, textbooks, PDFs, and more.

With ReadSpeaker TextAid, users can:

Upload and save documents to their personal library and access them from any internet-connected browser or device;
View and listen to documents in several formats (e.g., PowerPoint, PDF, Word, EPUB, etc.) using ReadSpeaker docReader, a fully integrated feature in TextAid;
Download and save Audio Files to listen to at any time, even while off-line;
Have text highlighted as it is being read aloud;
Browse through webpages and listen to the content by clicking the ‘TextAid Web Reader’ button;
Receive writing assistance by having ReadSpeaker read the user’s typed characters, words, and/or sentences aloud;
Adjust voice and text settings such as voice speed, text size, font face, text color, background color, and line spacing.
