Sunflower Paper Craft

The Sunflower Paper Craft is a do it yourself activity for children with seasonal affective disorder and upper extremity disabilities to do.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Yellow paper (we used regular print paper).
  • Green paper.
  • Brown paper.
  • Glue (or hot glue gun).
  • Tape.
  • Scissors.
  • Sunflower seeds to decorate the center (optional).

Step Two: Fold the sheet of paper in half and cut it.

Step Three: Start folding the paper – make an accordion fold. Fold all the way to the end of the sheet.

Step Four: When done, fold in half.

Step Five: Glue together. Some of the last folds will need a dab of glue in the middle too.

Step Six: Repeat with the other half of the yellow sheet of paper.

Step Seven: Glue both halves together.

Step Eight: Cut a smaller circle out of brown paper. Glue it onto your sunflower rosette.

Step Nine: Roll the green paper to make the stem.

Step Ten: Cut of any excess paper.

Step Eleven: Glue.

Step Twelve: Cut leaves out of green paper and glue them onto the stem.

Step Thirteen: Apply glue on the stem.

Step Fourteen: Press the sunflower rosette on the stem.

Step Fifteen: Secure with tape.
