The Accenda Universal Remote Control is a voice input and voice output remote control designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision, spinal cord injury, or upper extremity disabilities. This universal remote control can be used with a television, VCR, cable box, satellite box, or DVD player. Users have the choice of hands-free voice operation or hand-held operation through tactile buttons with large type lettering and voice feedback. The remote control can perform complex operations, such as turning on the TV and VCR, turning the television to channel 3, and telling the VCR to begin playing a tape, based on a single spoken command or button press. Voice feedback tells users what button they have pushed. Each set of tactile buttons has a distinctive shape. The keys are large and backlit, and have high-contrast large-type lettering.
