I-Speak is a screen reading program designed for use by individuals with vision or learning disabilities. This screen reader reads text from text files. E-mail and websites can also be saved as text files for reading. Files are read in a natural male or female human-sounding voice using inflection, intonation, and pauses to facilitate listeninng comprehension. Although the program reads only text files, text files can be recorded as Wave (.wav) or MP3 (.mp3) files. The program operates in two modes: In playlist mode, iSpeak reads text files that are organized into playlists or lists of files. In keyboard mode, iSpeak voices individual keys, entire sentences, or combinations of the three. The program also permits the user to select between multiple "skins" to change the the appearance of the iSpeak interface; each skin provides the same functionality, but displays the elements differently. Skins are available for downloading from the manufacturer website. The program can also voice text files for individuals with communication disabilities. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers.
