Fort Collins' Healing Warriors Program awarded Veterans Affairs grant for suicide prevention

Greeley Tribune - 4/1/2023

Mar. 31—A Fort Collins nonprofit will use a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide broader suicide prevention services to northern Colorado veterans.

The Healing Warriors Program recently received the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant.

The grant program is a pilot, community-based opportunity that provides financial assistance to eligible entities to provide or coordinate in providing suicide prevention services to eligible veterans and their families. The grants provide funding that may be renewed annually.

"Over the past few months since implementing the program, we have expanded the tools available to make an even larger difference in the lives of veterans in our community," said Chase Zajc, executive director for the Healing Warriors Program. "I'm proud of our team's vision for improving our community and excited to see the outcomes of this program as we continue to serve those at risk."

Healing Warriors' suicide prevention program embraces a "four-fold" approach which includes strengthening access and delivery of care, coping tools, resourcing and promoting connectedness. The organization's mission is to "improve wellness of veterans and their families through non-narcotic care."
