New child pornography charges filed against Baltimore SWAT officer accused of child sex abuse

Baltimore Sun - 11/11/2020

A Harford County grand jury has added 10 counts of child pornography possession to the child sex abuse case against a Baltimore Police SWAT officer.

Donald P. Hildebrandt, 50, is in custody after the grand jury indictment was returned Tuesday, Harford County State’s Attorney Albert Peisinger confirmed.

Hildebrant was first charged Oct. 21 with four counts, including sex abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense and second-degree assault. Peisinger would not comment on what led to the additional charges.

The Baltimore Sun does not identify victims of sexual assault.

His defense attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Hildebrandt had been initially released on $30,000 personal property bond, but was taken into custody on the new charges. A detention hearing was expected to be held later this week.

Hildebrandt has been a city police officer since 2006, and made $113,630 in salary and overtime last year, according to city records. The Baltimore Police Department said he was suspended without pay after the initial charges.
