Easton man sentenced to decades in prison for sexually abusing young sisters

Morning Call - 1/20/2022

An Easton man who sexually abused two sisters — and told police he drank beer and smoked methamphetamine with one of them — was sentenced to up to 52 years in state prison by a Northampton County judge.

Larry Dale Olsen, 30, pleaded guilty in August to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and indent exposure stemming from his repeated abuse of the girls, who were 6 and 8 years old at the time he was charged.

Olsen was sentenced to the statutory maximums on each charge for a total of 21 years, 3 months to 52 years, followed by nine years of probation.

Judge Jennifer Sletvold also classified him as a sexually violent predator, meaning he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Authorities began investigating Olsen in June 2020 following a child welfare complaint that alleged he was abusing a girl between the ages of 6 and 8 for at least a year.

During the investigation, authorities were tipped off to allegations that Olsen was also abusing the child’s younger sister, who was between 4 and 6. The abuse began in 2018 and continued into 2020, according to court documents.

The older child told police Olsen “forced us to do bad stuff” and described a series of sexual abuses for Easton police investigators. She said she and her younger sister would hide under their bed covers to get away from Olsen, “praying it would not happen again.”

She said Olsen threatened to kill everyone they loved if they told anyone about the abuse.

When confronted by police, Olsen initially denied the allegations and agreed to take a polygraph test. However, on the day of the test, he told police he was willing to confess to the girls’ accounts and revealed additional abuse.

He told police that he drank beer with the older child on multiple occasions and had, at least once, smoked methamphetamine with her.
