BRIEF: Accused child molester, 'Uncle Mikey,' arrested in Port Orange
Orlando Sentinel - 3/4/2017
March 04--A man accused of befriending needy families, moving into their homes and molesting their daughters was arrested early Saturday in Port Orange after Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies sought the public's help in locating him.
Michael J. McCabe, 47, of Port Orange, had warrants out for his arrest for three counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one count of sexual battery of a child less than 12 years old, sheriff's office spokesman Andrew Gant said.
McCabe, also known as "Uncle Mikey," is accused of befriending needy families, gaining their trust and moving in with them so he could have access to their young children, Gant said.
While babysitting for the families, McCabe is accused of molesting four girls from three families, Gant said. They ranged in ages between five and 11 years old at the time.
The molestations allegedly occurred in homes in Ormond Beach, Holly Hill and Port Orange, Gant said.
Deputies and the U.S. Marshals Task Force spent Friday looking for McCabe, Gant said.
Deputies found him sometime before 1 a.m. Saturday, Gant said. He was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he is being held without bond.
